Here are some organizations I am a member of or support.

Non-profit organizations

• NumFocus is a foundation which supports a number of incredibly useful open source software projects for scientific computing. I am one of the inaugural Open Source Champions as explained here.

• The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education of FIRE defends academic freedom and civil rights on campus, for students and teachers. I'm proud to be a member of the Ember Club.

• The Institute for Justice litigates in support of economic liberty. They recently had a massive success challenging asset forfeiture laws.

• The National Museum of Mathematics is the only national mathematics museum, with a delightful collection of exhibits at its location on the edge of Madison Square park. I'm proud to be one of the museum's inaugural donors

• The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit which supports wikipedia. I am a benefactor.

Faith organizations

• Piedmont Community Church is very family-friendly non-denominational Christian church with excellent Sunday school and a moving liturgy. I've been a member since 2019.

• Berkeley Zen Center. If you are in the Bay area, come by for Wednesday evening meditation and tea.
